Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 connected via usb only charging and not syncing

I used the cable provided with the phone and it was syncing up till now and then then when I connected via the same cable it only charges when connected to my pc.I tried using different cables but it only charges , I allso tried rebooting my pc and my phone but upto no avail.
