Is it okay to install Oreo via LineageOS on my Moto G4 Plus?

Hi! I never used other custom android distributions before but I don't want to wait for Motorola to give the official update to Moto G4 Plus, I'm sure it will take forever and they already promised such things and never actually did it.

People says that LineageOS is good so I wanted to give it a try but is it safe? Can it brick my phone or something?
