Why can't I update my google app

I already deleted my instagram app which is more or less 150mb and google app requires only approximately 34mb. Yes it downloads but it took too long to update. I cleared my notifications center and the updates were gone. I've tried to re-download it and it asked me again to delete some apps because my storage were full. But I have deleted enough! I know it happens but help me and englighten me about this. Thankyou
