Unable to set up my android mobile

I did a factory reset of my micromax android mobile. While setting up the device, the setup wizard took me through many steps. and in one of the steps, it asked me to sign into my gmail account. When I did, it said "unfortunately the wizard stopped working" and started all over again. But this time, when I provided my gmail id, it said "this account already exists in this device". I tried another gmail account and I got into the same problem. So, I am unable to use my gmail account to sign in (which was already working fine on this mobile) and hence I am not able to use the phone itself. Pls help.
