How do I navigate to my backup on the pc? There are no options for it.

My husband mainly had his contacts backed up on his PHONE, not google cloud. When he logged into a new phone, it didn't have many of the contacts he needed. Fortunately we had backed up his old phone on our pc. However, now the new phone (galaxy s7, android 7.0) only asks to restore from his samsung account. There are no options to even check a different backup. What's up with that? (I'm an apple phone user... I don't know android too well, but even after googling for an hour, I can't figure it out!)
