How can I stop a download that has been running nonstop for over 24 hours?

Have HTC phone. Yesterday it started a download which says DOWNLOADING ENGLISH (UK)
and then "offline speech recognition data". No idea where this has appears from. Can you help? Tried "force stop" but comes back after few minutes.
