I am unable to use my SD card in Samsung J5

Hello, I have a Samsung J5 and I bought a 16GB SD card. I am trying to set the SD card as my default storage but it's not giving me the option. It says that the SD card has available space of 14.39GB yet, whenever I try to install app I can't as I keep getting "not enough space" message. Can someone help me out please!
