Samsung Galaxy saying I'm dangerously low on space but I'm not

My galaxy s6 is giving me a notification that I'm too low on space but I know I'm not. The same thing happened about a month ago. I did a factory reset and still had nearly 2/3 of my space available. I haven't installed anything new since then so I know it's not the apps and I've cleared the cache to no avail. Is there a solution to this that doesn't involve a factory reset because having to do that every month will get old quick. Any way to fix this glitch for good?
