Accidently activated visually impaired mode and now phone is frozen

I somehow activated the visually impaired mode on my galaxy s8. It wouldn't allow me to go to settings to turn it off. Every time I tapped the settings icon it would say the words settings. In an attempt to fix I powered down the phone. Now it is saying I need to enter my password. I try double-tapping the letters to my password but it isn't registering them. About every 5th time it will get one letter (of the 6 letter password) and enter that letter 2 times. Called A T & T and the best they've got is to factory reset my phone. Please help. I have not backed up pics of my Dad who recently died on this phone. I can't lose them. Please.
