How to get old calendar backup on new phone

I upgraded from Samsung Galaxy 4 to LG V30. Prior to switching phones, I backed up my calendar. On Google Drive I can see my calendar backup under apps. It says com.android.calendar last backup: Feb 11. I have my phone set to update app data as soon as it's installed. However, I cannot see my calendar appointments on my new phone nor my Google calendar. Is it possible to get the events from my old calendar through my backup?
