Samsung Galaxy S8 - streaming audio skips often - NOT using Bluetooth

When streaming audio on my S8, the audio will often start stuttering or skipping. It sounds like the audio is being played in slow motion. I can stop the stuttering by interacting with the phone (unlocking or just touching the screen) but it in very annoying nonetheless. The problem is independent of what app I am using. It is also independent of using headphones or not.

I have seen a lot of posts about bluetooth audio problems, but I am not using bluetooth. This has been observed when listening to podcasts on BeyondPod or listening to music on Spotify.
