What's the maximum number of photos I can archive at once on my Galaxy S8

Hi. I'm trying to archive a day's worth of photos in Google Photos from my S8 - 48 to be exact. When I select the whole day and try to archive, the only option I get is "Delete from Device" I get the "Archive" option when I try two at once, so I know the function is working and that the max is somewhere beteen 2 and 48. What's the magic number?
