Messages for web giving repeat notifications on my phone

I just started using Messages for web and I do like having the ability to text from my desktop but while using it I keep getting repeat notifications on my phone from Messages that says "Connected to Messages for web". I get it every 1-2 minutes and it is very annoying, making it almost unusable.
