Lg g6 messaging problem

So im new to android, so bare with me(windows phone fan lol) anyways.. Can someone help me with my sending gif in my message. For some reason, when i want to send a gif in my message it starts a whole new message instead of applying to message of person im talking to..is there anyway to fix this issue?
